In the death of Christian Jensen, Mitchell county lost one of her honored citizens. He died at his home northeast of St. Ansgar, on January 24, 1914, at the age of 68 years and 26 days. He was born at Varde, Denmark, December 28, 1845. He moved to Schleswig in 1872 and two years later was married to Hanna Marie Sorenson, who survives him. They remained in Denmark for fifteen years. They came direct to Mitchell County, Iowa, which was their home until death called him, with the exception of two years when they lived in California. He is survived by his wife, his son and an adopted daughter, Matie.

The funeral was conducted by the pastor, Rev. M.E. Waldeland, January 26, and his remains were laid to rest in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
