MRS. CARROLL, 82, SUCCUMBS
FUNERAL RITES TO BE SUNDAY AT ST. ANSGARMrs. Frances M Carroll, former resident of Mason City, died Wednesday at her home in Minneapolis, after an illness of about eight months. She was 82 years of age and was born January 22, 1861. Her father and mother, Henry and Lucinda Getts, moved from Wisconsin to Iowa when she was 10 years old, and were among the first pioneer families to settle near St. Ansgar when it was still prairie land.
She was married October 16, 1881, to Roger A. Carroll, a Civil War Veteran, who died in 1925.
To this union were born nine children, Mrs. George F. Nimmons of North Adams, Mass.; Jay B. and Guy B. of Minneapolis; Harrison H. of Atlantic, Iowa; Loys L. of Detroit, Mich; and Mrs. Willis M. Bemiss of Mason City.
Three sons preceded her in death, Lee at eight months of age; Ralph in 1910, and Grant in 1919.Besides the immediate family, two sisters and one brother still survive; Mrs. Esther Alexander of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Joseph Titus of Minneapolis; and Edward Getts of Delta, Colo. She also leaves eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Mrs. Carroll lived in Mason City for several years and was a nurse before and during the last World war.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Methodist church at St. Ansgar, and burial will be made in the Protestant cemetery there.
