RITES SET FOR JOSEPH WAGNERJoseph P. Wagner, 68, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 6, 1959, at 7:00 a.m. at the Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City where he had been a patient for a few weeks following a heart attack.
He was born at New Haven, Mitchell, Iowa on March 18, 1890, and on July 12, 1911, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ross of Mitchell. He attended Barber School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and in 1927 the family moved to Greene where Mr. Wagner began the barber business. In 1957 he retired from the barber business after 31 years of continuous barbering in Greene.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Steve Dailey of Des Moines; and Mrs. William Pape of Waverly; four grandchildren; three brothers, Albert of Washington state; Philip of Shell Rock; and John of New Haven and one sister; Mrs. Sidney Root.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 9:30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. J. P. Boyle officiating.
Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery at New Haven. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.Green Recorder, Greene, Butler, Iowa, Wednesday January 7, 1959

Joseph Peter Wagner (WWI Draft Registration) was born March 18, 1890 at New Haven, Mitchell, Iowa, the son of Mathias Wagner and Margaret Blake Blonigan Wagner. He married Ruth Boynton Ross, the daughter of Leon Erwin Ross and Flora E Boynton Ross.
