Maynard E. Johnson, 72 of 1907 Ark Ave., Waterloo, Iowa died Saturday, December 13, 1997 at Allen Memorial Hospital from complications following a stroke.

He was born June 30, 1925 in Otranto Township, son of Carl Julius and Martha M. Ringhand Johnson. He worked construction, farmed and also was employed at the Raymond Rock Quarry.

Survived by: four sisters, Charlotte Marcusson of St. Ansgar, Agnes DeMaris of Riceville, Nellie Helfritz of Sterling, Kan., and Esther Everson of Lyle, Minn.

Preceded in death by: four brothers, Oscar, Emil, and two infants; and two sisters, Alice Austinson and an infant.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, 1997, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service/South Street, with burial in First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar (also on December 19); with Rev. Don Feuerhak officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until services Friday at the funeral home.
