Osage Woman Dies at
Mason City Hospital

OSAGE, IOWA — Mrs. Milt McGhan, 67, died Thursday morning, at a Mason City hospital, following a major operation last Friday. She became seriously ill about two weeks ago.

Etta Hogan was born March 4, 1877, in the state, of New York. She moved with her parents to Austin, Minnesota, where she spent her girlhood, and attended the Austin public schools.

She was married to Milt McGhan on January 1, 1896. They established their first home near Stacyville. They lived successively at Riceville, Little Cedar, and 33 years ago came to Osage where they have since made their home.

Mrs. McGhan was one of 12 children, four of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Frank Champion and Dan Hogan, Osage, and James and Herbert Hogan of Aitkin, Minnesota.

Surviving also, are her husband, Milt McGhan, two daughters, Mrs. Ollie Gilchrist, Washington D.C., Mrs. Einer Fredricksen, Osage; and one son, Virgil, Lime Springs.

NOTES: The sibling above called "Dan" was William Daniel Hogan, possibly also known as "Dee."

Osage – Funeral service for Mrs. M. H. McGhan, 67, who died Thursday, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. A daughter, Mrs. Ollie Gilchrist arrived Friday from Washington, D. C., to attend the rites.
