NEW HAVEN BOY DROWNS IN RIVER AT CHARLES CITY

Charles City. On August 14, Norbert Loftus, 18 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Loftus of New Haven, was drowned in the Cedar River here when he dived off the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad bridge into the stream.

Young Loftus, who was staying at Charles City with his two brothers, hit the water, sank and did not come up. The fire department was called and dragged the river for two hours before the body was recovered.
