A veteran Osage business man, William J. Starr, passed away November 30, at Santa Monica, Calif., where he had lived since retiring from business in Osage and moving west some years ago. He had been ill for more than a year, suffering from cancer.

For many years Mr. Starr was in business in Osage. First as an ice cream and candy manufacturer and retailer; later establishing, with his brother, Roscoe, the ice cream factory, which has since been purchased by Walter McCoy.

He and his family were among the stronger supporters of the Baptist church, prominent in all affairs of the church, and in school affairs of Osage.
