Mrs. Frank Markham
Buried Saturday Morning

Mrs. Frank Markham passed away Wednesday evening, January 30, at the home of her son, Fred who resides one and one-half miles northeast of Osage, after an illness extending over several months, and first occasioned by a fall, which resulted in a badly broken hip. She has been bedridden since last summer.

Marie Butler was born in Dane County, Wisconsin, August 5, 1849, and passed to the higher life January 30, 1924.

In Dane County she grew to young womanhood, met and married Frank Markham August 7, 1865. They made their home in Wisconsin until they moved to Osage in 1892.

Three sons came to bless this union; Charles, of Ostrander, Minnesota, Fred, of Osage, and Wilmont, of Kilbourne, Wisconsin. Mrs. John Levers, of this city, and Frank Emerson, of Manchester, niece and nephew of Mrs. Markham, were for years members of this family and with the daughters-in-law and grandchildren survive with the sons and mourn with them the loss of a dear, good mother.

Mr. Markham passed to the life beyond three years ago.

No one could meet Mrs. Markham without being impressed with the strength and poise of a quiet gentle woman. Her children can truly call her blessed. She was a wonderful mother, a loving, faithful companion, and ideal home worker. She knew how to make friends and keep them. Indeed, all who knew Mrs. Markham loved her.

She was a member of the First Universalist Church of Osage, a life member of the Woman's Mission Circle, and she was a faithful worker and enjoyed all the church activities until about seven months ago, at the time of her accident, which happened at the home of her son, Fred. From this shock she never recovered. All during the early part of her illness when she would see and visit with her friends she was very brave and optimistic, hoping to get back home in the fall. Then the pain and suffering grew worse, the body weakened and not until the sprit had taken its flight could tender hands bring the body back to the loved home.

During all the long trial she had every care that love could bestow. The family and friend here mourn the departure of a lvoed one, whose presence made this a brighter, happier world. At the same time we are comforted with the thought that she has found release from the long suffering and has entered into the joy God has in store for His faithful children.

Funeral services were held at the Markham home in Osage at 10 o'clock Saturday morning in charge of the Reverend Jennie B. Hitchcock.
