Funeral services for Miss Monafae Jean Hayenga, 22, who died at her home in St. Ansgar, October 4, 1952, were held Wednesday, October 8, 1952, with a prayer service at the home at 1:45 p.m. and at the First Lutheran church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. O.A. Langehough officiating.
Monafae Jean Hagenga, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hayenga, was born August 28, 1930 in New Hampton and was baptized August 29 by Pastor Engelka. She was confirmed in the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar May 20, 1945.
Monafae attended the grade and high school in St. Ansgar and was graduated from St. Ansgar high school in 1949. She served faithfully as secretary of the First Lutheran Sunday school for four years. She was also active in the Luther League and in regular attendance at worship in First Lutheran of which she was a member.
She was enrolled at Walforf college in Forest City this fall and was home for the weekend when she became suddenly ill Saturday morning, October 4, and died at 11:30 a.m. at the age of 22 years, one month and six days.
She is survived by her parents, a grandmother, Mrs. John Ehlke, nine uncles and two aunts.
Burial was in St. Ansgar cemetery with the Rev. Langehough in charge of the committal services.
