ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Mickey (Milda) Kofoot, 82, of St. Ansgar, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, December 20, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements.

Mickey (Milda) M. Kofoot

St. Ansgar, Iowa - Mickey (Milda) M. Kofoot, 82, of St. Angar, formerly Mickey Hook, died December 17, 2010 of complications suffered from an auto accident on November 24, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center, North Iowa, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar with Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School Street, St. Ansgar.

Mickey was born June 22, 1928, in Hollan, Iowa to Harm and Anna (Nefke) Meyer, one of seven children. She graduated from Lake Park High School in 1946. She then attended St. Luke's Nursing School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she later met her first husband Kenneth C. Hook.
They were married July 15, 1950 in Round Lake, Minnesota. They made their home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa until 1965 when they moved to Guttenburg, Iowa, they moved to Osage, Iowa in 1966 and then to St. Ansgar, Iowa in 1970 where she has resided since. Kenneth died in 1990 and was married to Marvin Kofoot of St. Ansgar until his death on November 24, 2010.

Mickey was a library clerk and homemaker. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar and in Rachel Circle.

Mickey enjoyed spending time with family and friends, growing flowers, and garden club, quilting, taking evening walks and traveling with her husband Marvin, and working at the library.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harm and Anna Meyer, husband Kenneth C. Hook, husband Marvin Kofoot; brothers James and Wayne Meyer; and sisters Dorlene Stricker and Joyce Meyer.

Mickey is survived by six children; Steven (Darcy) Hook of Kensett, Iowa, and their children Michael, Scott, Jeff, Tammy, Stephanie and Sean, Dennis (Lucy) Hook of Mason City, Iowa and their children Adam and Kevin; Kathie (Richard) Peterson of Chicago, Illinois, Sheila (Jerry) Brown of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and their children Sarah, Waylon and Clint;Wendy (Ronald) Heuton of St. Ansgar and their children Johnnie, Desiree, and Jason; Brian (Shelly) Hook of Denver, Colorado, and their children Amilea and Colton; stepchildren: Larry, Dean, Allen, Vicki, and Debra; sister Lulu Settle of Rixeville, Virginia; and brother Vern Meyer of Worthington, MN; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

The photo shows Mickey (Milda) Kofoot with her husband, Marvin when they were on a happy holiday trip to Cozumel, Mexico several years ago.

Mickey passed away on Friday, December 17, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center, North Iowa, Mason City as a result of complications suffered from an auto accident on November 24, 2010. The same accident resulted in the death of her husband, Marvin, on the day of the incident. The two were interred at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar.

Marvin was serving his second term as Mayor of St. Ansgar, and Mickey had enjoyed working at the Nissen Public Library in St. Ansgar. Both Mickey and Marvin were very involved in the community and both especially enjoyed their long evening walks as well as the traveling they did together. They will be missed by their family, friends, and community.
