Funeral rites for Andrew Anderson, 79, a former resident of Mitchell, Iowa, were held Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Mitchell.
Mr. Anderson died December 9, 1976 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Andrew (Anders) Anderson was born December 30, 1896 on a farm in Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. He was the youngest of five children of John Gerhard and Karen Liaeker Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek Lutheran Church. He enlisted in the Army on September 4, 1918 and served in the medical department at Camp Dodge. He was a member of the American Legion and Mitchell County World War I Barracks.
Andrew Anderson and Ida Seffinga were married March 27, 1920 in Mason City, Iowa. He was a retired farmer and carpenter, and after having moved to Mitchell, served as mayor for six years.
Survivors include his wife, Ida of St. Ansgar; and eight children: Mrs. Gladys Brych of Osage; Mrs. Ray (Katherine) Christiansen of Alden; Adeline Beinke of Mason City; Mrs. Walter (Bernice) Peterson of Glen Burnie, Maryland; Glen of Laredo, Texas; Melvin of Ionia, Iowa; Arnold of Glendale, Arizona; and Mrs. Marvin (Darlene) Buckmaster of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving him are 31 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one brother, Julius Anderson, of Mason City.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Gustav Anderson; two sisters; and one grandson.

#2:Funeral rites for Andrew Anderson, 79, a former resident of Mitchell, were held Monday afternoon at Faith Lutheran church there. Burial was in the Oak Grove cemetery there, and military rites were conducted there by the American Legion memorial squad from St. Ansgar. The Rev. William Perkins, Pastor, was in charge and arrangements were by C.R. Champion and Sons.
Mr. Anderson died Dec. 9, [1976] at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in St. Ansgar, Iowa, where he was confined for the past 31 months.
