Hans Christiansen was born at Almdorf, Germany on February 5, 1877. Excepting two years in military service, the years of his childhood and youth were spent in the parental home.
In 1901 he came to America and located with his uncle at Rock Falls, Iowa, with whom he lived about two years. On February 25, 1903, he entered into holy matrimony with Miss Augusta Wohlert of the Rock Falls area. After their marriage they located on a farm near Rock Falls in Cerro Gordo County, where they lived about four years. Later they moved to Cedar Township, Mitchell County and rented the Sebert farm, which Mr. Christiansen later bought and where he continued to live until his death.
In his wedlock the following children were born: Alvin, Carl, John, Herbert, Lawrence and Glen. With the exception of Alvin and Carl, all are at home. Besides the above-mentioned wife and children, a sister, Mrs. Thomas Hanson of Bredstadt, Germany and a brother, Anton Christiansen of Almdorf, Germany also survive.
Mr. Christiansen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of his native country. At the time of his death, he was an active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church.
Our departed brother has been an exceptionally strong and industrious man. He has enjoyed good health, has been a good, kind and true husband and father who will be sorely missed.
He died on April 27, 1935 at the age of 56 years, 2 months, and 22 days. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O.C. Myhre at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church on April 30th. Interment was made in the Rock Creek cemetery.
