DECEMBER 15THMrs. Rudolph Anderson received a message Tuesday from the government saying that her husband, private Rudolph Anderson, had been killed in action December 15 in Germany. A message December 31 said that he was missing in action.
Through correspondence with a soldier friend of "Rudy's," hope was held out that he was a German prisoner. The last government message however, definitely stated that he was killed in action.
Private Anderson was born in Hannaford, North Dakota and came to this County when a small boy with his mother and his sister, Myrtle, the latter now Mrs. Ernest Counsell Jr. He graduated in 1930 and worked at various occupations until he went to Alaska to work on the Alcan Highway. He was there about a month and returned to Osage only a short time before he was inducted to the army.
Pvt. Anderson was married to Hildegarde Troge June 23, 1940. They established their home in Osage, where Mrs. Anderson still resides. She is office assistant for Dr. Sam Savre.
Surviving is Mrs. Anderson and sister mentioned above.
His mother Mrs. Nettie Anderson, died several years ago.

Rudolph AndersonMemorial service for Rudolph A. Anderson will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage, Sunday, June 10, at 2:30 o'clock.
He was inducted into the United States Army January 16, 1943 and left for England with the 78th Division October 14, 1944, seeing action in France, Belgium and Germany. He was reported missing December 15, 1944. The Secretary of War, on May 15, 1945, notified his wife that he was killed in action on December 15, 1944.
Mr. Anderson leaves to mourn, his wife, the former Hildegarde Troge; a sister, Mrs. Ernest Counsell, Jr.; four nieces; and one nephew.

HILDEGARDE TROGE, RUDOLPH ANDERSON MARRY NEAR OSAGE
Osage, Iowa -- Hildegarde Troge, daughter of Gustav Troge, and Rudolph Anderson, son of Mrs. Nettie Anderson, were married Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church, south of Osage by the Rev. Mr. Leschband of Riceville. Hulda Troge, the bride's sister, and Clarence Oswald were the attendants. Dolores Johnson, the bride's niece, was the flower girl. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Troge home.
Both are graduates of the Osage High School and the bride has been working in Dr. Sam Savre's office. Mr. Anderson has a position with the county engineer.
They left on a trip to Wisconsin. After July 7, they will be at home in an apartment in the Ress Russell house on Oak street.

#7:OSAGE SOLDIER'S BODY
BURIED IN BELGIUMMrs. Hans Staff and Mrs. Ernest Counsell, Jr., as next of kin, have received word that Pvt. Rudolph Anderson's body is buried in a U.S. Military cemetery at Neuville-en-Condroz, nine miles southwest of Liege, Belgium. Pvt. Anderson was killed at Raffelsbrand, Germany, in Hurtgen Forest December 15, 1944. Mrs. Staff and Mrs. Counsell state they do not plan to have his body shipped home.
Memorial services for Pvt. Anderson were held June 10, 1945, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage. He was inducted into the United States Army on January 16, 1943, and left for England with the 78th Division in October, 1944, seeing action in France, Belgium and Germany.
Anderson was employed by the Mitchell county maintenance department for many years before entering the services.
