OSAGE, IOWA - Bernice H. Lack, 95, died Friday (March 17, 2000) at the Faith Home in Osage.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 Wednesday at First Congregational Church, U.C.C., in Orchard with the Rev. William Griffee officiating. There will be no viewing as she wished to be cremated. Her cremains will be buried at the Orchard Cemetery.

Champion Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage, is in charge of arrangements.

Bernice H. Lack, the daughter of Glen and Minnie (Rowley) Waid was born September 13, 1904, at Loomis, South Dakota. She moved to the Floyd area as a small child and grew up there.

She married John Lack on March 5, 1927. They spent most of their married life in the Orchard area. John Lack died November 4, 1960.

Bernice continued living in Orchard until selling her house and moving to Osage to live with her son, Robert M. Lack, and his wife Jacqueline.

Bernice was an active member of the Orchard Congregational Church. She worked in the U. S. Post office in Orchard and later became the Post Master. She participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony at the opening of the new Post Office in Orchard.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Robert M. Lack and his wife, Jacqueline L., of Osage; a sister, Thelma Barth of Charles City; granddaughters, Nancy M. Lee of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Clarice Armand and her husband, Owen, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Shawne Gunsallus and her husband, Terry, of Austin, Minn., and Cindy Greenzweig and her husband, Jay, of Indianapolis, Indisna; a grandson, Shane Lack and his wife, Jean, of Fredricksburg, Va.; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1960; four sisters; three brothers; and a grandson, Dennis Lack.
