RALPH E. WHERRY
OSAGE, IOWA - Ralph E. Wherry, 96, of Osage, died Tuesday (Sept. 19, 2000) at the Faith Home Nursing Home in Osage. Ralph was born April 13, 1904, at Rhodes, Iowa, the son of Frank and Maude (Sutton) Wherry.
On March 10, 1928, he married Laura Thorena Lindley, daughter of Ole and Mary Lindley, of Osage. They were married in Minneapolis, Minn. It was a double wedding with Ralph's brother, Loran, and Laura's sister, Clara.
Ralph and Laura made their home on a farm until 1934 when they moved to Osage. Ralph was employed by Mitchell County Maintenance for 23 years and later for Standard Oil until his retirement
He then farmed the land of his sister, Marguerite Erbe, for five years. In April 1994 he moved to the Worth Living Center in St. Ansgar for five years until February 1999 when he moved to the Faith Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Osage, with Pastor Dennis Hanson and Pastor Roy Ott officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
He is survived by two sons, Darrell "Mick" and his wife, Shirley, of Osage, and Marvin and his wife, Arla, of Marsailles, Ill.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laura; one grandson, David F. Wherry; four brothers; and three sisters.
