HELEN A. ADAMS

MEYER - Helen A. Adams, 83, of Meyer, died on Saturday (Feb. 26, 2000) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meyer.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St., St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen was born on July 24, 1916, in Meyer, to Anton and Catherine (Simon) Neis. She married Roman Adams on June 23, 1941, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. Roman died in 1959.

Helen ran the Adams Grocery in Meyer for over 50 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Meyer.

Helen moved to the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in January of 1994.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Anna (Ushold) Neis; husband, Roman; two brothers, Gregory and Ray; and one sister, Juletta.

Helen is survived by one son, Hubert A. Adams of Meyer; two daughters, Shirley A. Smith and her husband, Albert, of Rose Creek, Minnesota, and Dorothy C. Adams of St. Paul, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Debra Wenum and her husband, Gordon, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Janet Pitzen and her husband, Randal, of Adams, Minnesota, Kathryn Heimer and her husband, Ronald, of Adams, Minnesota, Edward Smith and his wife, Heather, of Rose Creek, Minnesota, Andrew Smith and his wife, Angie, of Rose Creek, Minnesota, Matthew Smith, of Rose Creek, Minn., and Janet Smith, of Austin, Minnesota; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Stella Fritsch of Red Wing, Minnesota, Silveria (Marie) Finley of Papillon, Nebraska, and Regina Neis of Rochester, Minnesota.
