OSAGE, IOWA — Pearl Eiffler, age 90, died Tuesday, February 16, 1999 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, in Osage, Iowa.
Pearl Myrtle Eiffler was born on September 24, 1908, at Kendall, Kansas, the daughter of Albert and Harriet (Phillips) Wells. She started school in Kansas and the family moved to Iowa in 1914 on a train, thereby finishing her formal education in Iowa.
On March 15, 1928, she was united in marriage to Richard Nicholson. Later, on July 21, 1950, she married William Eiffler at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Riceville and they had only a few years together, for he died on Feb. 3, 1959.
Pearl was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church on April 16, 1950. She belonged to the LWML of St. Peters Church and Royal Neighbors of America. She enjoyed making scrapbooks and collecting stuffed animals.
Pearl is survived by her stepchildren, Viola Frahm, of Riceville, Iowa; Melvin Eiffler, of Cresco, Iowa; Herbert and Wilfred Eiffler, both of Reinbeck, Iowa; 13 stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one stepdaughter, Myrtle Schwake; one stepgranddaughter; five brothers, George, William (Ray), Earl, Calvin, and John Wells; six sisters: Mary and Anna Wells, Viola McNamara; Sarah Dent, Mabel Volkart; and Nellie Betts.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 19, 1999 at the Conway Funeral Home, in Riceville, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, with the Rev. Matthew Verseman officiating. Friends may call at the Conway Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday where there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
