OSAGE, IOWA — Rozena H. Groff, 91, of Osage, died Sunday, February 21, 1999, at her home of natural causes. Rozena was born November 2, 1907, on a farm south of Riceville in Mitchell County, the daughter of William and Eliza (Kruger) Worple. She was educated in rural schools for several years.

Rozena was united in marriage to Eddie Groff on July 9, 1929, at the Little Brown Church. To this union was born a son, Richard, who died October 11, 1982. They also helped raise a niece, Jennie Lee. They farmed in the New Haven area. Eddie died on April 30, 1991. Rozena then moved to Osage. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and church circle.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 1999, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, in Riceville.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion Funeral Home, 702 E. State St., Osage.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Cyndy Groff, Osage; five grandchildren, Whitney Pfadenhauer and husband, Dan and their children, Briana, Megan and Anne Marie, of Pella; Kelly Deutz and husband, Joel and their children, Alex and Courtney, of Marshall, Minn.; Randy Groff and wife, Virginia and their children, Jordon and Ashley, of Osage; Pam Whisler and husband, Brian and their children, Dakota and Cameron, of Columbus, Ohio; and Tracy Groff, of West Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Velma Acker, of Elma, and Esther Cutsworth, of Waterloo; and a brother, Levern Worple and wife, Delores, of Elma.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie; son, Richard; an infant sister, Charlotte Worple; two sisters, Lula Eschweiler and Viola Lubbert; four brothers, Daniel, George, Lewis, at age 6; and William.
