OSAGE WOMAN IS SUFFOCATED
MARY RYAN DIES AFTER ARRIVAL OF NEIGHBOR

OSAGE, IOWA – Mary Ryan, 85, suffocated early Monday in the kitchen of the house where she had lived alone for a number of years.

She died shortly after being found by Mrs. Howard Smalley, a neighbor who cared for her and went to the house shortly after midnight to look at the fire.

She apparently had been stuffing papers into the kitchen stove before being overcome.
