SETH LEWIS, MITCHELL
COUNTY PIONEER, BURIEDOSAGE, IOWA, Feb. 3 – A committal service in charge of the Rev. F. W. Millee was held Wednesday afternoon for Seth Lewis, Mitchell county pioneer, who died Saturday at the home of his son, Stuart, at Waterloo.
Surviving are two brothers, John of Steele, N. Dak., and Charles of Osage, and three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hart and Miss Mary Lewis of Osage, and Mrs. Leitha Peck living in Harrisonville, Mo., two sons, Clifford of Osage and Stuart of Waterloo, and a daughter, Mrs. Maude Winslow of Waterloo.

#2:Seth Lewis was born December 1849 in Illinois, (according to the 1900 Census). He was the son of John Lewis and Mary Voltenburg Lewis. He married Albania Bartlett (according to the 1925 Iowa Census).

Buried In Osage TuesdayAnother old-time Mitchell county resident,Seth Lewis, has passed away, and his going leaves only six of a family of eleven children born to Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis, Sr., who have become a well-known and respected part of his community.
Mr. Lewis was born in Jo Daviess county, Illinois, in 1848, and came with the family to this county in 1854. He was married to Miss Banie (Albania) Bartlett, and they farmed for many years near Orchard.
To them were born two sons, Clifton Lewis, Osage, Stuart, of Waterloo, and Mrs. Maude Winslow, Waterloo. Since the death of his wife a number of years ago, Mr. Lewis had lived with Stuart.
Besides the children who survive are the following brothers and sisters, John, of Steele, N.D.; Charles, Mrs. Sarah Hart, Mary Lewis, all of Osage, and Mrs. L.I. Peck, of Missouri. The brothers who have passed away are Wellington, Henry and Silas.
Funeral services were held at Waterloo, and burial made in the Osage cemetery, following a short service at the cemetery chapel, conducted by the Rev. Miller.
