ORCHARD VICINITY
DIES; LONG ILLNESS

Frank Snively, the son of Owen D. and Jane Hoyt Snively, was born July 30, 1880, near New Haven, Mitchell County, Iowa. He was the fifth in a family of six children. He passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 1943, at Nissen Hospital in Osage.

As a boy Mr. Snively attended the Tupper rural school and when he was about 11 years old he moved with his parents to Orchard, where he completed his schooling. As a young man he worked on various farms in the Orchard vicinity, then went to Saginaw, Michigan, where he worked for two years, returning to Orchard, where he has since resided.

He then went to work with the maintenance crew of the Illinois Central railroad, where he worked for 33 years, until his retirement on November 11, 1942. He gave up his work on account of failing health.

As a young man he attended the Orchard Sunday School and church services and continued to give financial support to the church throughout the years. He was a kind friend, generous and thoughtful; well liked and highly respected in the community and among his associates. He will be greatly missed in the community.

He is survived by two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. W. E. Ingraham of Glendive, Montana; Ernest L. Snively, Glendive, Montana; William E. Snively, West Union, Iowa; and Mrs. A. O. Anderson of Osage.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Stiles Lessly, with burial in Osage Cemetery.
