CARL OLSON, 75, DIES AT OSAGE
Survived by Widow and Two Daughters

OSAGE, IOWA – Funeral services for Carl E. Olson, 73, who died at his home in Osage Friday following an illness of 16 days were to be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home and at 3:15 p.m. at the Osage Lutheran church, the Rev. T. P. Solem officiating. Burial was to be in the Osage cemetery.

Mr. Olson was born in 1869 in Stockholm, Sweden, and came to this country in 1886 settling in Osage where he engaged in farming.

He was married in 1896 to Gunnil Johnson. He retired 35 years [SIC] ago and moved to Osage.

Surviving are his widow, two daughters; Mrs. Cora Matzoll, Lakeville, Minnesota; and Helen, an instructor in the Minnesota School of Business, Minneapolis; three grandchildren; a brother and a sister in Stockholm, Sweden; and a foster brother; Emil Johnson, Kenosha, Wisconsin.

CARL E. OLSON, 74
DIES IN OSAGE

Carl E. Olson was born Ocotber 4, 1869, in Stockholm, Sweden, the son of August Olson and Charlotte Lundell. He passed away February 26, 1943, at his home in Osage, Iowa. The deceased was baptized and confirmed in Store Kyrkan in Stockholm.

At the age of 17 he left Sweden for America, arriving in New York in 1887. From New York he came directly to Mitchell county, Iowa. For about eight years he lived at the Mrs. Ingeborg Peterson home in Meroa, where he came to be accepted as one of the family.

On March 4, 1896 he was united in marriage to Gunnil Johnson, the Rev. J.J. Strand officiated. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Olson located on a farm near Meroa.

After a trip to Sweden in 1907 the Olsons moved to Osage, where they have resided in the same home for 35 years. Mr. Olson was devoted to his home and family.

Mr. Olson had enjoyed excellent health until the past year. On February 9, 1943 he suffered a stroke from which he failed to rally.

The deceased is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. John Matzoll (Cora), Lakeville, Minnesota, and Helen of Osage; by three grandchildren, Doris, Inez and John Matzoll. He is also survived by a brother, Hugo, who spent several years in the Osage community, but is now in Stockholm, Sweden; and by a sister, Emilie, also in Stockholm. A foster brother, Emil Johnson, lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Services were held at the Champion funeral home on Sunday at 3 p.m., and at the Osage Lutheran Church at 3:15. Burial was in Osage Cemetery.
