Fern Albert

Word has been received of the death of Fern Albert, 88, on December 29, 1983, at a Washington, D.C. nursing home where she had lived for several years.

Fern Albert was the wife of the late Francis Albert of Osage, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son.

She is survived by her sister, Hazel Olson, Osage, two brothers and one daughter.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 30 at the Fort Myer Memorial Chapel in Alexandria, Virginia for Fern Olson Albert 88. a former Osage resident who died Thursday, December 29 at the Alexandria Hospital.

A navy chaplain conducted the service and burial was in Arlington National Cemetery.

Mrs. Albert was born in Osage and attended Cornell College at Mount Vernon. She married Francis Lee Albert, a Navy chaplain who retired as a captain, and accompanied him to various posts in the United States, and to Samoa and Guam. The Alberts later lived in Ormond Beach, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Francis Lee and her parents.

Mrs. Albert is survived by three daughters, Virginia A. Adams of Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, Fern A. Atkin of Alexandria and Betty Lu Grune of Westport, Connecticut, two brothers, James Olson of Austin, Minnesota, and Fritz Olson of Winter Park, Florida; a sister, Hazel Olson of Osage; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
