MRS. BELLE JOHNSON FUNERAL SERVICES ARE HELD AT OSAGE

Osage – Funeral services for Mrs. Belle Johnson, 89, who died suddenly of a stroke while visiting at the home of Mrs. Mayme Cutler here Monday evening, were held Thursday afternoon at the Rock Creek Lutheran church in charge of the Rev. O. C. Myhre.

Born in Norway November 19, 1848, she came to Wisconsin with her parents at the age of six months. In 1853 they moved to a farm near St. Ansgar.

She was married to L. H. Johnson in the spring of 1877 and they lived on a farm south of Osage. During late years Mrs. Johnson had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Olive Howe.

Surviving are seven children: Mrs. Olive Howe, Osage; Mrs. Nellie Wood, Colfax; Mrs. Louis Field, Manly; O. J. Johnson, Osage; Mrs. P. V. Larson, Osage; Mrs. E. L. Wall, Lyle, Minnesota; and Clara Johnson of Maywood, Illinois.

Burial will be in the Rock Creek cemetery.

OBITUARY: Ingeborg Andrea (Tollefson) Johnson, 1848-1937

Mrs. Lars H. Johnson, nee Ingeborg Andrea Tollefson, was born at Krageroe, Norway on November 19, 1848. In the spring of 1849 she came with her parents to America and lived for some time in Illinois and Wisconsin. In 1852 they came by ox team to St. Ansgar, where she grew to womanhood and was confirmed by the Rev. Clausen, pastor of the St. Ansgar Lutheran Church.

As the eldest daughter in a pioneer family, she early learned hard work and to assume responsibility, traits which were characteristic of her whole life.

Mrs. Johnson had been an exceptionally strong and active woman and had always been blessed with good health and a good disposition. In the spring of 1877 she entered into matrimony with Lars Johnson, and for sixty years had lived in this county. Her husband preceded her in death on February 12, 1927.

She passed away Monday evening, May 10, 1937 from a heart attack at the home of Mayme Cutler, in Osage, where she was visiting a few days.

Surviving are seven children: Mrs. Nellie J. Wood, Colfax; Mrs. Lewis (Hanna Emilia) Field, Manly; Ole J. Johnson, Osage; Mrs. P.B. (Helen) Larson, Osage; Mrs. E.L. (Estella) Wahl, Lyle, Minnesota; Clara L. Johnson, Maywood, Illinois; Mrs. Olive Howe, Osage; and also sixteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church on May 13. Interment was made in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery.
