FORMER OSAGE RESIDENT DIES
Rites for Otto Rundborg are Being Held at OsageOsage, Aug. 20 -- Funeral services were held here today for Otto Rundborg, 79, who died Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. M. Kathan. His death was the result of a fall a week previous when he dislocated his hip. He and his daughter, Mrs. Clara Wood of Chicago had been guests in the Kathan home.
Mr. Rundborg came to Osage in 1869, when a young man 19 years old. He worked as a section hand on the Illinois Central when it was built thru to “Lyle” and he also worked on farms. He attended the Cedar Valley seminary long enough to learn the English language and the rest of his education was obtained thru reading good books and magazines.
When his brother Franz Rundborg came from Sweden, Otto saw that he completed the course and he graduated in the same class with Hamlin Garland.
For over 30 years Mr. Rundborg was in the drygoods business and was also an importer of Swedish kid gloves. He was a devoted member of the Methodist church and was active in helping to build the church.
Surviving are the three daughters and a brother: Mrs. Clara Wood and Mrs. George Haskett of Chicago; Mrs. B. M. Kathan and Franz Rundborg of Osage.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. E. B. Frye in charge and burial was here.
