2ND FIRE VICTIM DIES AT OSAGE
Funeral Thursday for William Buening, 73

Osage -- William Buening, 73, died at the University hospital at Iowa City at 5 a.m. Tuesday, the second victim of the Sullivan hotel fire, at Osage Saturday morning. James Lancaster, 39 died early Sunday of 3rd degree burns suffered in the fire.

Buening’s death was unexpected as he was reported slightly improved Monday before he was taken to Iowa City. Reports here Tuesday morning indicated an autopsy would be held.

Buening was born in Milwaukee July 28, 1873 He came to Osage when a young man and married Emma Ruchl who died in 1926. He had been employed by the Central States Power and Light Company at Osage and also worked as a carpenter.

Surviving are an adopted daughter, Mrs. Paul Crawford of Orchard; 2 grandchildren and 2 sisters; Mrs. Ed ( Regina ) Rodemacher and Mrs. Earl (Katherine) Gaffney, of Charles City.

Tentative time for the funeral is 10 a.m. Thursday at the sacred Heart Catholic church at Osage.
