d: Septembr 28, 2000.OSAGE, IOWA - Louise Mathilde Berge, 90, of Osage, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church in rural Osage, with the Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Interment will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and one hour prior to services on Sunday at the church.
Louise was born March 2, 1910, in the Cedar Township of Mitchell County, the daughter of Lars and Maren (Lund) Sorlie. She attended school at Cedar No. 7 school until 1919, when the family moved to Osage, where she continued her education, graduating from the Osage High School in May of 1928.
She was united in marriage to Pervin Berge on September 20, 1933, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church. They lived on the farm where she was born until Pervin's death in 1959.
She moved to Osage in June of 1961 with her two youngest daughters. Louise worked several years in the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
During her retirement she enjoyed the hobbies of quilting, gardening and being a grandmother. She entered the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center on December 28, 1994, where she died on Septembr 28, 2000.
Louise was a lifelong member of Rock Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was confirmed in 1924, active in Luther League, choir, Ladies Aid, Sunday school teaching, Bible study circle and Lydia Mission Circle as long as her health permitted.
She was noted for delicious dinner rolls, which she made for her grandchildren's confirmation, graduation parties and weddings.
Louise is survived by three daughters, Lois Ruehlow and her husband, Charles, of Osage, Margaret Lattimore and her husband, John, of San Antonio, Texas, and Elizabeth Dinger and her husband, Glenn, of Riceville; two sons, Loren Berge and his wife, Barb, of Osage and Arthur Berge, of Osage; one sister, Borghild Sorlie, of Osage; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pervin, in 1959; three half sisters; three brothers; two great-grandsons, Devan and Andrew; and daughter-in-law, Mary Berge.
