Susanna Feuerstein

Susanna G. Feuerstein, 95, Neillsville, died on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2003, at the Angelus Retirement Community, Neillsville. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Neillsville. The Rev. David Palmatier, OSB, officiated. Music was provided by Ronald Resong, organist, and the St. Mary's Adult Choir. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were granddaughters, Mary Chapman, Joan Frank, Sarah Geiger, Nancy Kufel, Kris Pommerening, Linda Ruddy, Jane Steiner, Honor Teoudoussia, and Susan Wood. Grandsons were honorary pallbearers.

Susanna G. Freund was born on Feb. 26, 1908, in McIntire, Iowa, to Nikolas and Catherine (nee Gerhartz) Freund. In 1916, she moved with her parents to a farm near Bakerville. She received her education at Sacred Heart Parochial School, McIntyre, and Corpus Christi Catholic School, Bakerville. After her education, she worked in Marshfield. She married Martin Feuerstein on Oct. 2, 1929 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville. They lived in Neillsville and were co-owners of B&F Machine Shop.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Neillsville, and was a member of its PCCW Society and a charter member of St. Teresa's Mission Club. She was a charter member of the Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary and helped establish the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop. She was a Brownie Troop Leader for 10 years. Her interests included her family, baking, sewing, gardening, and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include four daughters, Cynthia (Gilbert) Frank, Oshkosh, Lorraine Noll, Two Rivers, Kathryn (Jack) Negaard, Stevens Point, and Janet (Michael) Ward, Wilmette, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Mathilda Burr, Neillsville.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Martin; two brothers, Walter Freund and Edwin Freund; and one grandchild, Gregory Noll.
Memorials may be directed to Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville, or St. Mary's Catholic Church, Neillsville.
The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangemen
