Mrs. J.P. Dreis Passes AwayVermillion Woman Finds Peace after Long Period of Patient Suffering:
Once more it has become our sad task to chronicle the closing of another book of life, and the loss of a Christian woman and loving wife and neighbor from the community
Mrs. J. P. Dreis, who passed away at her home in Vermillion on Monday Oct 23, 1922 at the age of forty three, leaves a vacant place in the neighborhood in which she lived and in the hearts of those with whom her life was associated, that will not easily be filled. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to her loved ones in the loss occasioned by her death.Mrs. Dreis , formerly Miss Katherine Eschweiler, was born in Stacyville, Iowa on April 28,1879, the daughter of John Eschweiler and Margaret (Gerhartz) Eschweiler. She was united in marriage to John Peter Dreis June 14,1910 at Stacyville, Iowa, but shortly afterward moved with her husband to Vermillion, where she resided with the exception of a few years spent in St. Paul, until her death.
The funeral was held in St. John’s church at 10:00 am last Thursday, Rev. Koesen officiating.
Those who are left to mourn her loss beside her husband are: her parents, Mr. And Mrs. John Eschweiler of Stacyville, Iowa: four brothers, John of New Hampton, Iowa, Joseph, Wm, and Herbert and three sisters of Riceville, Iowa: Mrs. Mike Strout of Faribault,MN: Mrs. Eschweiler of Stacyville, Iowa.
Those who were present at the funeral of Mrs. Dreis were: Mr. And Mrs. Joseph Eschweiler, Will, Herbert and John Eschweiler, Mr. And Mrs. Dave Clewett of Riceville, Iowa, Mrs. And Mrs. Mike Strout, Mrs.Matt Koutz, John Strout, B. Becker and Alfred Becker of Faribault, MN, Mrs Nick Fusnig and children, Mrs. Peter Law, Mrs George Turmes and Mr. Anton Weltes of St Paul, the misses Mary and Anna Williams of Oakdale; Mr. And Mrs. James Hemker, Mrs John Conzemius, Mrs. Nick Conzemius,Mr, and Mrs. Henry Wagner and Mr. And Mrs P.C. Holzmer of Hastings. Those who served as pallbearers in addition to John, Will, and Herbert Eschweiler were: Mike Strout, Dave Clewett and John Bookman. Interment was made at St John’s Cemetery.
