LITTLE CEDAR, IOWA — Funeral rites are pending for Herbert L. Penney, 69, who died Sunday morning in the Cedar Valley hospital at Charles City; had peritonitis following a ruptured appendix, occurring June 16. The body is at the Champion funeral home.
Herbert was born on September 8, 1884, to George and Mary Jane (Pierce) Penney, on a farm east of
Stacyville. He married Gladys Makepeace of Little Cedar in 1910. He had lived on a farm near Little Cedar all of his life, since a small child, until retirement in 1952 to Little Cedar.Survivors include his wife, two sons, Howard, Little Cedar, and Stuart, Stacyville; a daughter, Mrs. Harry Drum, Ruthven; seven grandchildren, and a brother, Sidney, Little Cedar.
Preceding him in deawth were two children in infancy; two brothers, Spencer and Clinton H.; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Elliott.
