Daily, Mrs. W. E. Death - Sunday
Mrs. W. E. Daily of Dexter died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Madsen, in Austin. Funeral services were held in Dexter Wed. afternoon with Rev. Harry Evans of Spring Valley officiating. Interment was in the LeRoy Cemetery by the side of her husband who preceded her in death a short time ago.She is survived by three daughters and a son, Mrs. Madsen, Miss Florence Daily, who teaches in Austin, Miss Marguerite Daily, who teaches in St. Charles, and William Daily.
Martha Augusta Penney, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William Penney, was born at Stacyville, Iowa, August 24, 1866. She was married to William E. Daily of LeRoy and they settled at Sutton, Minnesota where they operated a general store.
In 1900 Mr. Daily purchased a hardware business in Dexter where the family has since lived.
Mr. Daily passed away Sept 25,1941, after an illness of three years. Burial was in the family lot in LeRoy.Mrs. Daily was one of a family of 13 children. Her sisters: Mrs. Susan Miller and Miss Fannie Penney of Stacyville and Mrs. W. D. Hogan of Osage, Iowa, preceded her in death. Brothers and sisters surviving: Harvey Penney of Excelsior, Minnesota; Mrs. Laura Mynek of Yakima, Washington; Mrs. Rose Shotliff and Mrs. George Faas of Stacyville, Iowa; Mrs. O. H. Daily of LeRoy; Mrs. Frank Hogan of Austin, Minnesota, George and William Penney of Rochester, Minnesota, and Mrs. Clarence Gerbig of Puyallup, Washington.

MRS. W. E. DAILY
Mrs. W. E. Daily of Dexter died Sunday, November 1, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George W. Madsen in Austin.
Martha Augusta Penney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Penney was born at Stacyville, Iowa and she attended the public school at Stacyville and the old fashioned penmanship and music evening schools. She spent her early life in Stacyville where for several years she was bookkeeper and clerk in a general store owned by her uncle.
On April 27,1891, she was married to William E. Daily of LeRoy and they settled at Sutton, Minnesota, where the family has since resided.
Mrs. Daily had become a member of the Methodist Church of Stacyville when she was a young woman and later transferred her membership to the Methodist Church of Dexter. She was a charter member of the Dexter chapter of the Eastern Star and although an active member of the Civic League and the Red Cross, Mrs. Daily was a true homemaker, radiating kindness and courage to her family and friends.The family includes Mrs. George W. Madsen of Austin; Marguerite Daily of St. Charles; Florence Daily of Austin; and William Daily of Dexter. There are also three grandchildren; Florence Madsen, a student at Ames, Iowa, and Gordon and John Madsen of Austin.
Funeral services were held at the family home in Dexter, Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1942, with the Rev. Harry Evans of Spring Valley officiating. Mr. Evans used as his text the 23rd Psalm, the same text he had used for Mr. Daily, who passed away Sept. 25, 1941, after an illness of three years.
Burial was in the family lot at LeRoy.
Besides her children and grandchildren, Mrs. Daily left many other relatives as she was one of a family of 13 children. Three sisters, Mrs. Susan Miller and Miss Fannie Penney of Stacyville; and Mrs. W. D. Hogan of Osage, Iowa, preceded her in death. Brothers and sisters surviving include Harvey Penney of Excelsior, Minnesota;, Mrs. Laura Mynek of Yakima, Washington; Mrs. Rose Shotliff and Mrs. George Faas of Stacyville, Iowa, Mrs. O. H. Daily of LeRoy, Mrs. Frank Hogan of Aitkin, Minnesota, George and William Penney of Rochester, Minnesota, and Mrs. Clarence Gerbig of Puyallup, Washington.

Former Resident of Stacyville Is Dead
Stacyville – Mrs. W. E. Daily, a former Stacyville resident, died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George (Alice) Madsen, in Austin, Minn. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 o’clock in Dexter. The Rev. Harry Evans of Spring Valley will officiate.
She is survived by three daughters and a son, Mrs. Madsen; Miss Florence Daily who teaches in Austin; Miss Marguerite Daily, who teaches in St. Charles; and William Daily.
Relatives here include Mr. and Mrs. George Penney; Mrs. Rose Shotliff; Mr. and Mrs. George Faas; Mrs. Tilly Fuller; Don Fuller; and Mrs. Helen Greer.

Martha (Penney) Daily was the daughter of William Penney 1837-1919 and Hannah (Halsey) Penney 1841-1923
She married William Ellsworth Daily 1868-1941; the son of Ziba Bennett Daily 1830-1898 and Jane Caherine Vargasa 1836-1923
They are buried in the Leroy Cemetery, Mower
Co., Minnesota where his parents are buried.
