Osage Woman Dies at Home of Daughter

Osage, Iowa – Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shelladys funeral home for Mrs. Frank Boylan, 76, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Morgan McDougall, Monday evening. She had been in failing health, but death was unexpected. Services will be under the direction of the Rev. Glen Hartong, Methodist pastor. Burial will be in the Osage cemetery in the family lot.

She was born in 1866 , the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dillon, at Hopkinton, Delaware county. In 1883, she was married to Frank Boylan in Henry county S. Dakota. Theirs was the first marriage performed in that county. They lived on a claim near Brookins, S. Dakota.

The family came to Osage 55 years ago. Since Mr. Boylan’s death in 1929, Mrs. Boylan had made her home with her only daughter and her family, Mrs. Morgan McDougall.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Morgan McDougall, Osage, and two brothers, Barney Dillon of McIntire, and Chris Dillon of Rochester, Minn.

MRS. FRANK BOYLAN
OLD RESIDENT, DIES

Mrs. Frank Boylan died at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Morgan McDougall, after a brief illness. She was 76 years of age.

Sara Dillon was born on October 16, 1866, at Hopkinton, Delaware county, Iowa. Her mother died when she was six years of age, and in the remaining years of her childhood she lived with her sisters and brothers.

She was married to Frank Boylan on Thanksgiving day in 1883, in Henry county, South Dakota, and this marriage was the first one recorded in that county.

To this union were born two daughters, Millie and Georgia. Millie preceded her mother in death when a young woman. Her husband died in 1929.

There remain to mourn their loss two brothers, Barney Dillon of McIntire, and Chris Dillon of Rochester; the dughter, Mrs. McDougall; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

For the past 13 years she has lived with her dqaughterin Osage and has always been frail, but she enjoyed fairly good health until recent days.

Mrt. Blylan's main interest has always centered about her home, and she took an active part in the welfare of her community, and in her loved ones. She was a member of the Methodist church, having joined it with her husband many years ago.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Thursday, at the Shelledy funeral home in charge of the Methodist church, and burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
