OSAGE, IOWA - Kenneth L. Anderson, 83, of Osage, died on Sunday, August 22, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Osage American Legion Post 278.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Kenneth was born on January 7, 1927, in rural Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Gilbert and Stella (Odden) Anderson. Kenneth graduated from Osage High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific in World War II.

He was married to Eunice Lorenz on Sept. 21, 1947, in Osage. He and Eunice farmed west of Osage for many years. In 1967, they moved off the farm. Kenneth worked in the ag chemical and fertilizer business for many years in Grafton, Emery, Clear Lake, Meservey, and Klemme. When he retired from the Klemme Cooperative Elevator, he and Eunice moved back to Osage to be close to friends and family.

Kenneth was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He loved to play cards with his "Card Club" for over 40 years. He also enjoyed golfing, drawing and painting, traveling and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was an all around handy man and would do anything to help others.

Kenneth is survived by his children, Linda Hughes of Charles City; Tom (Peggy) Anderson, of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Bryan (Emily) Hughes and their son, Daxton, of Norwalk, Megan Hughes, of West Des Moines; a sister, Clarice (Bill) Vance, of Iowa City; a brother, Gerald (Karen) Anderson of Boone; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Anderson, in February 2010; his parents; and a sister, Margaret Christensen.
