Ambrose K. Durben, 77, of Austin, died Monday, May 21, 2001, at his home. He was born April 5, 1924, at Meyer, Iowa, to Arthur and Louise (Weber) Durben.

He was raised on a farm near Meyer, Iowa, and married Rosella Lee on Sept. 7, 1950, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Austin.

He was a farmer until the couple moved to Austin in 1951. He worked as a truck driver for Golden Dairy for 22 years and other businesses in Austin. He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Austin.

Survivors include wife, Rosella Durben, Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Debra Durben, Albert Lea; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Durben, Austin, Lisa and David Patterson, Lyle; four grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Anicita and Kenneth Overrocker, Austin, Alverna and Elmer Miller, LeRoy, Eileen Koenigs, Adams; brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Ann Durben, Meyer, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Stanley and sister-in-law, Caroline Durben, brother-in-law, Marvin Koenigs, and mother-in-law, Elise Lee.

Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Austin, with the Rev. Virgil Duellman officiating.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Mayer Funeral Home, Austin, where there will be a 7 p.m. wake service, and from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday.Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Austin
