OSAGE, IOWA - Mrs. Sophie Pint, 77, died Saturday evening at the Mitchell county memorial hospital, from influenza and a heart condition; had been ill several weeks; funeral Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart church; burial in Sacred Heart cemetery in the family lot.
Sophie Braun, daughter of John and Barbara Braun, was born March 21, 1871 in Wisconsin. As a child she moved with parents to near Stacyville. She was married to John Pint in 1893, and the couple established their first home at Stacyville, then moved to farm near New Haven, later to Meyer, and coming to Osage in 1914.
The day following the arrival of the couple in Osage, Mr. Pint died suddenly, leaving Mrs. Pint with care of the 12 living children, the youngest of whom was but one and one-half years of age.
John Pint, a son, has managed the home farm and the mother has since made her home on the farm located directly east of the Osage fairgrounds.
She leaves following children: Anton, of Elma; Lawrence, of Osage; William, of Floyd; Mrs. Lawrence Hutchcroft, of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Roman Michels, of Stacyville; Mrs. Leslie Colton, of Orchard; Frank, of Mitchell; Mrs. Joseph McGrane, of Elma; Mrs. John Novotny, of Osage; John, on the home farm; Joseph, of Decorah; 49 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Mrs. Mary Shampine and Mrs. Frank Winkels, Adams, Minnesota; Mrs. Christine Mandler and Mrs. Francis Fuller, Osage; Mrs. Katherine Rohlinger, Campbellsport, Wisconsin.
One brother, Tony, preceded her in death, besides her husband, were two sons, Harold in infancy and Fred; one brother, Casper, and eight grandchildren. A lover of children, Mrs. Pint often wished she might see her fiftieth grandchild alive.
