Ingeborg (Flatla) Dynna Wamstad, 1840-1936

The departed mother, Ingeborg Wamstad, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Flatla, was born at Gran, Hadeland, Norway on November 28, 1840. Her parents died in her childhood and she lived the greater part of her younger days in the home of her grandmother.

Mrs. Wamstad was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of her native place and has always been loyal to her spiritual mother.

In May 1868, she was united in marriage with Lars L. Dynna, of Gran, Norway. On May 31, 1868, they immigrated to America where they located in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. Here she lived with her husband until his accidental death on February 25, 1873.

To this union two children were born: Ludwig, who died on June 15, 1910 and Lise Marie Klemesrud, who died on February 1, 1926.

On March 27, 1877, she entered into matrimony with Andrew Wamstad, who also came from the same part of Norway. To this marriage three children were born: Brede and Della, who survive, and Oline, who died in infancy.

Having previously bought the Linderman farm in Cedar Township, the moved to this place in 1906. On this place they continued to live until 1915, when they retired and bought a home in Osage, where she continued to live until the time of her death. Her second husband preceded her in death on October 28, 1928.

During her stay in this community, Mrs. Wamstad has always been a highly respected, interested and active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran church and the Ladies' Aid, of which she was a charter member.

The departed mother has experienced many trials, much sickness and many sorrows in her life, but she always met them in the spirit of Christian resignation, and received the blessings that may be found in cloudy days.

Although Mrs. Wamstad was a physically strong woman, on account of her crippled condition she has been unable to take care of herself during the last twenty years. Since last August, however, she has been so helpless that she needed constant care. During the last two weeks of her temporal life she was confined to her bed, and suffered a great deal, but she retained her mental alertness and the spirit of satisfaction with the Lord's will unto the end.

The only near relatives surviving besides the above-mentioned children are: seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, both in Norway and America.

She died on January 16, 1936 at the age of 95 years, 1 month, and 18 days. The cause of her death was the usual infirmity of old age. Blessed be mother's memory.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre at the home at 1:00 p.m. and at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. on January 18, 1936. The mortal remains were laid to rest until the resurrection morning beside her loved ones in the Rock Creek Lutheran cemetery.
