Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Byrnes were conducted Saturday, October 10, at Sacred Heart Church, by Reverend J. P. Martin, who was assisted in the solemn requiem high mass by Fathers Haulihan, of Charles City, and Tibeau, of New Haven.

Mrs. Brynes, who had been in failing health for the past two years, passed away Thursday afternoon after an acute illness of three weeks.

She was born in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, April 3, 1856. Her parents, Michael and Lucretia McGalloway, were among the early pioneers of that state.

She was married to James R. Byrnes April 7, 1880, and to this union ten children were born: Mrs. Rose Miller and Angelo, of the new Haven vicinity; Sister Mary Isidore, of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Agatha Robinson, of Winslow, Arizona; Cecelia, of Ames; Dr. Maurice, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mrs. Ruth Comisky, Mrs. Genevieve Rogers and May, of Osage. A son, Robert, passed away in 1928. All of the children were in attendance at the funeral.

Immediately after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Byrnes took up their residence in Liberty Township, Mitchell County, later moving to Douglas Township. In 1908 they retired from the farm and moved to North Seventh Street, this city. Mr. Byrnes passed away January 5, 1920.

Among those from away who came to be present at the funeral were a brother, M. A. McGalloway, of Janesville, Wisconsin; Mrs. Lucretia McGalloway and Miss Jeanette Byrnes (Nieces), of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; Miss Mary Wilkenson, of Milwaukee; F. J. Robinson. of Winslow, Arizona; and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Lee, of Ames.
