Attack fatal to John Pagel
Funeral services for John Pagel, 64, who died at his St. Ansgar farm home June 12, [1980] were held June 16 at the St. Johns Lutheran Church, Rock Township, with the Reverend Richard Zellmer in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Schroeder Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
John Frederick William Pagel was born April 30, 1916 in Newburg Township, Mitchell County, the son of Henry and Ida Groth Pagel. He attended the rural school of Newburg No. 5 and assisted his father in farming.
He was married to Rosie Hinsmann June 29, 1941, at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Reverend Fred Ide officiating. They made their home on a farm south of Grafton, and later purchased a farm southwest of St. Ansgar where they have resided since that time.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and had served as deacon and recording secretary there.
Surviving are his wife Rosie; son Kenneth; one brother George of Grafton; three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Alfrieda) Crooks of Kensett, Mrs. Dorothy Pahl and Mrs. Arthur (Elsie) Rachut of St. Ansgar; nieces and nephews.

John Frederick William Pagel [1916-1980]
Funeral services for John F. Pagel, 64, who died at his farm home June 12, were held June 16 at St. John's Lutheran church, Rock township, with the Rev. Richard Zellmer officiating.
John Frederick William Pagel was born April 30, 1916 in Newburg township, Mitchell county, the son of Henry and Ida (Groth) Pagel. He was baptized May 28, 1916 at St. John's Lutheran church, Rock township, by the Rev. W. Reineke. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, by the Rev. Paul Brammer. He attended rural school in Newburg #5, and assisted his father in farming.
He married Rosie Hinsmann June 29, 1941 at St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. Fred Ide officiating. They made their home on a farm south of Grafton, and later purchased a farm southwest of St. Ansgar where they had resided since that time. One son, Kenneth, was born to them.
Mr. Pagel was a faithful member of St. John;s Lutheran church and had served as deacon and recording secretary for the congregation.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie; son Kenneth; one brother, George of Grafton; three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Alfrieda) Crooks of Kensett; Mrs. Dorothy Pahl and Mrs. Arthur (Elsie) Rachut of St. Ansgar; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Burial was in St. John's Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Zellmer in charge of committal services.
