Mary Ann Getz-Bell

Mary Ann Getz was born in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, on Match 14, 1846, the eldest daughter of Adam and Hetty Getz. On June 6, 1866, she was married to James A. Bell at Milton, Pennsylvania. In 1869 Mr. and Mrs. Bell moved to Osage, where they lived till but a few years ago.

The husband and father preceded her in death in 1906. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Cora, of Waterloo, and Margaret, of St. Louis; ad one son, Charles, of Chicago. There are also nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One sister, residing in Pennsylvania, and two brothers, both in Kansas, also survive her.

During the years in which Mrs. Bell was well enough to be active, she was a devoted member of the Congregational Church in Osage. During the last few years of her life, as her health was failing she made her home with her daughters in St. Louis and Waterloo. She passed away on Saturday, March 28, 1931, and the body was brought to Osage for services and burial.

Reverend Nelson C. Greier conducted the service at the Champion Funeral Home at 10:30 on Monday March 30. Mrs. Charles Kathan, a friend of the family, sang a solo.

Probably no greater tribute could be paid to any woman than that she was devoted to her home and children and this certainly was the case with Mrs. Bell.
