MARILYN JOY MCNUTT
MINNEAPOLIS - Memorial services for Marilyn Joy McNutt will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave. South in Minneapolis. Marilyn passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2001, at Fairview University Medical Center following her second struggle with cancer.
The beloved daughter of Wayne and Evelyn McNutt was born in Spirit Lake, on August 18, 1944. The McNutts made their home on Iowa farms in the Sheldon, Lake Park and St. Ansgar areas.
Marilyn graduated from St. Ansgar High School, Mason City Junior College and Mankato State University. She received her masters degree in education from the University of Minnesota. She taught home economics in Hayfield and Ellendale, Minn., and fashion merchandising at Inver Hills Community College in St. Paul.
Her biggest challenge combined these interests and talents when she pursued her dream of owning a specialty women's clothing store, Just Grand, on Grand Avenue in St. Paul. Shoppers, staff and suppliers appreciated her unique talents and pleasant smiles. Many lasting friendships were formed.
True to her name it was a JOY to share her life. Those especially grateful for this privilege include her mother, Evelyn F. McNutt, of St. Ansgar; sister, Mary Jane Miller and her husband, Charles, of Gilbert, Arizona; niece, Sarah Hamrock and her husband, Jason, of Chandler, Arizona; nephew, Michael Miller and his wife, Shari; and great-nephew, Nicholas Wayne Miller, of Polk City; many dear aunts, uncles and cousins as well as a host of loyal friends who stood by her through her fight for life, especially Bruce Iverson, James Garza and Lana Jones.
Those who preceded Marilyn on this journey were her father, Wayne; and special friend, Bruce "Bud" Frodl.
Memorials may be given in her name and honor to the University of Minnesota Women's Cancer Center.
