Obituary.

Mr. Stephen Freund (Friend) died at his home about five miles northeast of Stacyville on Monday morning, April 22 at one o'clock. He had been ailing a year or so but was not confined to the house until Christmas time.

He seems to have been another one who never fully recovered from the grippe. His age was about sixty years, and he had been a resident of this county for the last twenty years. On Wednesday morning a long funeral cortege followed the remains to the church where requiem mass was sung by Rev. P. Peschong, after which interment was made in the Catholic cemetery beside his wife's grave who died about three years ago. Three children, Joseph, Annie, and John, remain to mourn their loss.

NOTE: The family may have changed the spelling of the name from Freund to Friend, at some point.
Freund being German for Friend.
