PLAN MEMORIAL FOR MAX BERG
OFFICER WAS DROWNED ON AUTHORIZED LEAVE

St. Ansgar---Memorial services will be held Sunday at 2 o'clock at the local high school auditorium, the Rev. W. F. Belling in charge, for Max Dale Berg, 22, petty officer 3rd class motor machinists mate U.S.N.R who was drowned April 7, 1944, while on authorized liberty.

Max was born January 5, 1922, on a farm in Unin township, was a graduate of the Austin, Minn., high school and entered the service November 11, 1942. After 8 weeks of basic training he took a course in Diesel engineering at the navy pier, Chicago, and was graduated April 23, 1943. He then was sent to Norfolk, Va., and later to Brooklyn, N.Y., where he was assignd to a ship. He was home on leave in July 1943.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Berg, 2 brothers, Raymond and Roger, who attend the local school

Note: he was the son of Grant O Berg and Opal Virginia (Lovejoy) Berg.
