Funeral services for Mrs. Ada L. Priem were conducted at the Immanuel Lutheran church in St. Ansgar, Wednesday, February 24 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Carl T. Wuerffel officiating.
Music was furnished by a male quartet consisting of Albin Perau, Orray Knutson, Arnold Feldt and Elmer Steinberg.
Ada Lena Brandt Priem, daughter of Frederich and Emillie Schroeder Brandt, was born December 2, 1887 in St. Ansgar Township. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville. As a young girl she attended the McCoulough school or Union No. 4. Later she trained and practiced as an apprentice in a dressmaking shop in St. Ansgar. This trade she followed until her marriage.
On August 25, 1912, she was married to Edward W. Priem, who preceded her in death May 29, 1958. The couple established their home in Newburg Township on the William Priem farm. In 1920 they moved to a farm north of this location which her husband had purchased. She and her husband spent their years of retirement in a home they built just south of their daughter and son-in-laws home.
Mrs. Priem enjoyed reasonaby good health, aside from periodic illnesses from which she seemingly recovered. Her death was accidental, preceded by a fall. She died Saturday, February 20, (1965)
at the age of 77 years, two months and 18 days.The immediate survivors include one daughter, Flora, (Mrs. Bernhard Gerdts) of St. Ansgar; three grandchildren, Bruce and Kathleen Gerdts, at home and Bereneice Gerdts of Northfield, Minn.; one brother, Fred Brandt of St. Ansgar; two sisters, Matie, (Mrs. J. L. Carter) of Butte, Mont., and Alma Brandt of Marshalltown; one niece, Mrs. Robert Olson of Austin, Minn. and one nephew, Captain Ralph Brandt of Charleston, S. C.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar cemetery with the Rev. Wuerffel in charge of committal services.
