Funeral services for George A. Halvorson, 81, who died Friday, January 20, 1961 were held Monday, January 23 at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Don Hamilton officiating.

George Halvorson was born November 10, 1879, the son of Andrew and Anna Lucinda Halvorson on the Halvorson homestead south of St. Ansgar. He was baptized and confirmed by the Rev. Olsen.

On October 14, 1908 he was united in marriage to Lena Tollefson by the Rev. Waldeland. They have resided in St. Ansgar for the past 21 years. Mr. and Mrs. Halvorson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October 1958. Mr. Halvorson had been employed at the St. Ansgar Mills, and until his retirement a few years ago, was employed at the Pine Hill Diary for 10 years.

Mr. Halvorson was always faithful to his Church and a loving and devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife and four children, Lenore, (Mrs. Alvin Grell) of Mason City, Alfred of Plainview, Minnesota, Ruth, (Mrs. Lloyd Kroneman) and Avery, both of St. Ansgar. Also nine grandchildren, one great grandchild; two brothers, four sisters and a host of relatives and friends.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Hamilton in charge of the committal services.
