Held at Osage September 10

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Schroeder, 79, of Osage, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital September 7, 1979, were held at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Osage September 10 with the Rev. Kit B. Belk officiating.

Lillian Josephine Winer was born November 22, 1899 in Mitchell County, the daughter of Charles and Dora (Berenz) Winer. She married Alvin Schroeder on May 22, 1921. They established their home on a farm near St. Ansgar, and then moved to a farm near Little Cedar in 1932. In 1951 they moved to Osage.

Mrs. Schoeder is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Marion (Mildred) Young, two sons, Rudolph and Virgil, all of Osage; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; her mother Mrs. Dora Schmidt and a sister, Mrs. Ed (Thelma) Ahlf of St. Ansgar.

She was preceded in death by her husband, father, and three grandchildren.

Burial was in Liberty cemetery, Little Cedar, with Rev. Belk in charge of the committal services.

Lillian Josephine Winer was born November 22, 1899 at Liberty, Mitchell, Iowa to Dorothea Barenz and Charles Winer, the oldest of their two daughters.

Lillian married Alvin Frederick William Schroeder on May 22, 1921 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had 3 children:

Mildred( born November 6, 1922 Mitchell, IA., married Marion Young, July 24, 1943 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, IA, died May 12, 1997 at Osage, IA);
Rudolph Edward Schroeder (born November 1, 1925 St. Ansgar, Mitchell, IA., married Dixie Lee Ketelsen June 26, 1955 at Osage, Mitchell, IA, died October 10, 1988 Osage, Mitchell, IA. Buried at Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, IA.) and
Virgil R Schroeder (born December 5, 1926 Mitchell, Iowa, died June 26, 1987 Osage, Mitchell, IA. Buried at Liberty Cemetery, Little Cedar, Mitchell, IA. )

Found in the 1900, 1910 censuses living on a farm at Liberty, Mitchell, Iowa:

1900: Charles Winer 27, Dora Winer 20, Lilly Josephine Winer 6/12.

1910: Charles Winer 38, Dorothea Barenz Winer 30, Lillian Josephine Winer 10, Thelma Winer 7.

Found in the 1920 - 1930 censuses at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa:

1920: Herman Schmidt 58, Dorothy Schmidt 40, Lillian Winer 20, Thelma Winer 16, Alfreda Schmidt 19. (her father had died and her mother had remarried to Schmidt)

1925: Alvin Schroeder 30, Lillian J Schroeder 25, Mildred Schroeder 2.

1930: Albin Schroeder 35, Lillian Schroeder 30, Mildred Schroeder 7, Rudolph Selemdes 4, Vergil Selemdes 3. (surnames mis-spelled).

Found in the 1940 census at Liberty, Mitchell, Iowa: Alvin F Schroeder 45, Lillian J Schroeder 40, Mildred L Schroeder 17, Rudolph E Schroeder 14, Virgil R Schroeder 13.

Lillian Josephine Winer Schroeder died September 7, 1979 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Liberty Cemetery, Little Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa
