Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Gerhartz) Halfman 3rd wife of Chrysanthus "Chrisand" Halfman
October 1941: Last Rites Held for Mrs. Halfman Last Saturday.
Funeral services for Mrs C. Halfman, beloved resident of the Stacyville community for many years, were held last Saturday morning at 9 o'clock in Visitation Catholic church in Stacyville. Requiem high mass was read by Rev. H. N. Manternach, in the presence of a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends.
Elizabeth Gerhartz was born January 11, 1862 at Spillville, Iowa, and died at Stacyville, October 8, 1941 at 6:50 p.m. She was married on November 8, 1886 to Chrisand Halfman, at Visitation Church, Stacyville, Iowa, and the couple lived on a farm 2 miles southeast of Stacyville.
Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Halfman, two dying in infancy. the other eight children who remain to revere the memory and mourn the passing of a grand, good mother are Joe, Manly, Iowa; George, Christina (Mrs. Joe Simon), Michael, Alois, Hubert, Stacyville Iowa; Albert, Sheboygan Falls, Wis.,; Paul, Campbellsport Wis. She is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren.
Her husband died January 12, 1917 and Mrs. Halfman continued to live on the farm until the spring of 1930 when she moved to town.The following acted as pallbearers at the funeral: Mrs. Frank Hovel, Mrs Jake Simon, Mrs. Katie Diedrich, Mrs. Anton Nies, Mrs. Mary Frein, Mrs. Rose Durben, Ray Jurgensmeir, Ernie Heimer, Ferd Durben, Will Gerhartz, Willie Eschweiler, Fred Halfman.
Out of town relatives and friends here on Saturday for the funeral services included: Mrs. and Mrs. A. M. Olaesgens, Owataonan, Minn.; Mrs. and Mrs. Ernest Heimer, Austin Minn.; Julia Hoffman, Owatonna, Minn.; Henry Halfman and son Paul, Stephen, Minn.; Mrs. Scott Hedges, Marian Simon, Mason City, Iowa; Mrs. L. A. Leske, Owatonna, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Durben, Rochester, Minn.; Phillip Halfman, Malone, Wis.; Mrs. Vincent Aigner, Fond du Lac, Wis.; Mrs. and Mrs. Ed Schaefer, Fond du Lac, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jurgensmier Sheboygan, Wis.; Mike Strauth and son Vincent, Faribault, Minn.; Will and Agie Eschweiler, Riceville, Iowa; Frank and Fred Halfman, Tony Retterath, Turton, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Halfman, Campbellsport, Qis.; Mrs. August Kraemer, Campbellsport, Wis.; Albert Halfman Sheboygan Falls Wis.; Esther Boyington, San Diego, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Durben, Manly, Iowa.
