Albert E. Baker, 1911-1997

OSAGE, IOWA - Albert E. Baker, 86, of Osage, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 1997, at the Faith Home in Osage, of cancer.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Sept 23rd, at the Osage Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Newland officiating. There will be military rites at the grave by the Osage American Legion Post #278.

Albert E. Baker was born on January 1, 1911, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Emery and Ella (Manning) Baker.

He served in the United States Army during World War II, where he was stationed in Africa as an Escort Guard for two years. He returned to the surrounding communities of Osage, Charles City, Clear Lake and Waterloo, where he farmed until he retired.

He married Blanche Evans in 1935. They were later divorced. He then married Fern Kindschuh in 1942.

He was very active at the Osage Senior Citizens Center. He was a very loving and caring person.

He is survived by one daughter, Delores Badker and her husband, George, of Osage; three sons, Duane Baker and his wife, Sharon, Anchorage, Alaska, Donald Baker and his wife, Mary, of Rock Falls, and Larry Baker and his wife, Cherell, of Kinchdae, Mich.; five sisters, Cleo Smith, of Mitchell, Esther Ruble, of Osage, Bernice Williams, of Wyoming, Alta Barnes, of Eureka, Calif., and Ethel McDanial, of Vaccaville, Calif.; one brother, Kenneth Baker, of Utah; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Fern; two sisters, Grace Raymond and Ruth Wallace; and one infant brother, Roger Baker.

The Champion Funeral Home, Osage, is in charge of arrangements.
