Funeral services for Martha Marie Arndt, 71, of Riceville, were held Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville, Iowa, with Rev. Michael Parris officiating.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Martha passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005 at the Colonial Manor in Elma, Iowa.

Martha Marie Arndt was born June 19, 1933 in Riceville to Cecil Edwin and Edna Hilda (Ehrenstein) Foote. She attended local schools.

In December of 1950 she was united in marriage to Joseph Roethler in New Haven, Iowa. To this union a son was born, Michael Joseph Roethler.

She was also united in marriage to Edward Emil Arndt, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Riceville, Iowa, on March 2, 1963.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edwin in 1994, one stepson, one brother and one sister.

Her survivors include her son Michael Roethler and his wife Barb of Waterloo, Iowa; a grandson, Chad Roethler and his wife Julie, and their two children Hannah and Nolan; one granddaughter, Jodi Driscoll and her husband David and their child Colin; three great-grandchildren; a stepson, James Arndt of Charles City; and two stepdaughters: Avis Ann and her husband Leonard Jareett; and Margaret Ann and her husband Dale Brockney, all of Charles City, Iowa; also three step-Grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Thurnau Fickess and her husband Robert of Osage, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
