Tollef Dahlen Died,
Osage Home, Friday

Tollef Dahlen was born in Telemarken, Norway, on October 18, 1859. He emigrated to America in 1880 and came to Winneshiek County, Iowa, where a number of his relatives were then living. He taught parochial school during the two years spent there, then moved to a farm near Forest City which he and a brother operated together for several years. After the death of the brother, Mr. Dahlen continued alone.

March 15, 1896, he was married to Mathilda Guldbrandson. The ceremony took place in the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, the Reverend Johan Olsen officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Dahlen lived on the farm near Forest City for seventeen years. In 1912 they moved to their farm northeast of Osage. In 1925 they moved to Osage.

Mr. Dahlen had been in poor health for several years. He was able to be about, however, and until the last week of his life performed his duties as custodian of the Osage Lutheran Church, in which capacity he had served for over six years. He passed away quietly May 22, 1931, in his 72nd year.

The deceased is survived by his wife and four children: Alver of Osage, Iowa; Alma Kenesrud, of LaFontaine, Kansas; Myrtle Champion of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Gilman, of Detroit, Michigan. There are also five surviving grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 25, at the Champion Funeral Home at 1:30 and in the Osage Lutheran Church at 2:00. Interment was in the Osage City Cemetery.

The eldest son, Alver, was unable to be present at the funeral as he is confined to his bed by illness.
