Ruth Denner Nelson, 1906-1997

OSAGE, IOWA-- Ruth Denner Nelson, 91, of Osage, died Tuesday, July 15, 1997, at Faith Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Faith Lutheran Home, with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be held in East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. Saturday at the Faith Lutheran Home. Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Denner Nelson was born March 1, 1906, to Frank and Evalyn (Cowdell) Denner. She was baptized May 12, 1918, in New Hampton. She received her early education in New Hampton, and graduated from Iowa State University, after which she taught school for several years at Boyden.

Ruth married Walter Nelson on Aug. 27, 1932, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, and to this union one son, David Walter Nelson, was born on Nov. 30, 1942. While living in Osage she was employed by Dale Peterson Drapery and Flooring as a seamstress. She was a resident of the Faith Home for the past eight years.

She is survived by one brother, Samuel Denner of Santa Rosa, Calif.; one nephew, Richard Denner of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and four nieces, Lynda Mosbach living in Virginia, Evelyn Dieterich of St. Ansgar, Beverly Allison of Mesa, Arizona, and Betty Gast of Osage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter, in 1965; her son, David, in 1972; and a sister, Mae Klemesrud in 1976.
